What is CPC

CERTIFIED PRACTISING CONVEYANCER (CPC)?

CPC – WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

The title of Certified Practising Conveyancer (CPC) is awarded to conveyancers who annually meet the standards set by each Division of the Australian Institute of Conveyancers (AIC) to maintain best practice and shows that they strive to grow and develop their knowledge by attending professional development courses each year.

It is a sign of excellence and professionalism and helps identify conveyancers who have met certain criteria and each state has similar criteria to attain this recognition. If you are buying or selling property then you can seek conveyancers who have earned the right to use this term with confidence. Registered Conveyancers who complete the criteria may use the post nominal CPC after their name and will receive a certificate annually.

For South Australia (AICSA) in order for Registered Conveyancers to attain the CPC annually they must:

  • be a practising registered conveyancer and have a minimum of 24 months experience;
  • be a fully paid up member of the AICSA – (Membership of AICSA is not compulsory to gain registration);
  • have attained 100 professional accreditation points (a minimum of 10 hours professional development training or equivalent) in the previous calendar year.

The right to use the CPC will be granted by the AICSA each calendar year if criteria is met and a new certificate will be issued.

Conveyancers who qualify annually are entitled to use the CPC title, CPC post-nominal, CPC logo and slogan on their stationery, advertising and on other forms of publicity. It is a brand recognising conveyancers who are making the effort to keep up to date with developments and technology in order to deliver the best service.

WHAT DOES HAVING A CERTIFED PRACTISING CONVEYANCER MEAN FOR YOU?

You can feel confident that your conveyancer is making every effort to keep up-to-date with the ever changing legal requirements and improving their skills by attending professional development training on an ongoing basis.

As a member of AICSA they are required to abide by our Code of Conduct and have full access to the range of information, services and advice we provide.
